Casey on Thursday
It smelled like the opening of the Second Front. The haze hung low on the ground and
all the parked cars had graphite and shells on them.
Fortunately there were no tanks in the streets, and no bodies. Human bodies, that is,
but then again there wasn't a cat or dog in sight either. I suspect they were still in
hiding.
It briefly reminded me of what the blitz must have been like, although I suspect it
must have been much sadder in London in those days. We use words with such little care.
I'm sorry, British people. It was nothing like the Blitz.
